Thailand October 2011, rainy season in Thailand. For everybody who live in Thailand, we learnt from the news that at present flood is the big issue for many cities in Thailand. During this chaos we received emails and calls to ask about the process of the insurance in case the situation get better. What they might have to prepare for the “CLIAM ISSUE” with insurance company.
First of all, kindly check if you have insurance for your home (if you doubt about coverage you could contact your agent or your brokers as soon as possible) and this is the general list of documents for the claim.
- CLAIM FORM OF (you should be able to get from your insurance company or contact your brokers)
- QUOTATION / INVOICE FOR REPAIRING (Total expenses)
- PHOTO OF DAMAGES (try to keep recording from the first day of damage until present as much as pissible)
- OTHER DOCUMENTS (The insurance company may request some other documents due to the case)
Last but not least, remain calm and understand that for some case it may take long time to get the feedback. And for those who interest to get the information for home insurance / all risks. Please email us at info@chazinsurance.com

Everybody know the fact that nowadays Thailand have 3 words to describe the weathers as Hot, Hotter and Very (Bloody) Hot!!!
After February, the climate in Thailand will change and here we go again, Rainy Days. What come with the rain? Big motor claim…
You guys know how terrible to stuck into the traffic on the road in Bangkok, city of angel, when it rains even just for few minutes but that could cost you to spend longer time for each traffic light. And it would be worse if you have some accident or some small crash in rainy season.
One day I got a call from one of my client, asked for urgent help because he got stuck with the traffic and hit by another car. He asked me to talk to a survey guy from the insurance company because nobody speaks English (including the owner of another car). After everything finished and everybody can move from that place it took for almost 2 hours!
Later I receive a thank you email with a good question from this client. He asked me
“Do insurance people speak English?”
“How I can rely on the insurance company if I couldn’t understand anything they said when I contacted for emergency and I had to sign a paper which is all in Thai and I had to worry if I sign, it may affect for my car coverage?”
I think these questions might be one of the questions which you have in mind for all Non-Thai Speakers (believe me even you do speak Thai sometimes you can’t make up your mind what’s going on for the insurance word)
Guess there is not much choice for you guys to ask for help from your insurance brokers who could provide good service in English. Or prepare to learn Thai!

GET THE PARTY STARTED!!!
Here comes again the time for everybody to enjoy Christmas and New Year. For this special time what you might have to concern besides spending time with your love ones.
Well, technically for insurance business, this time of the year is the busy time to provide travel insurance and personal accident to the clients who get ready for a trip to their home town or visit some place for holiday.
Why insurance is something needed for this time of the year? If you could check the record of people who travel during this high season, there are numbers of accidents and many of people have inconvenience experiences during their trips i.e. lost luggage or personal stuff. It’s time to enjoy not for bad mood.
How insurance could help you? To have insurance policy is just to share the risk which may or may not take place. From our experience, the unexpected could happen any time. It’s better to get ready to handle the complication which may cost you big amount or money or make you lose time to enjoy.
Good example for the case is Party Girls in high heel. Believe it or not your sexy shoes may cause you to end up in the emergency room easily i.e. slipping on the dance floor or Personal Accident might be able to help you for the unexpected accident and may save a lot of money because the premium of this type of insurance is not that high (minimum annual premium is 599 THB only)
For someone who love traveling abroad. You should really have travel insurance even just for few days to help you in case of emergency during your trip. Also for Thai who would like to apply for a visa to Europe especially Schengen Visa, Travel Insurance, is one of the documents which the embassy require. Make sure you have enough coverage and some embassy does not accept some insurance company. Please check from the embassy first before you decide to issue your policy.

After the crazy time in the office, there is a time for annually medical check up for all staffs again. As we do expect it seems to be a routine for all of us, office people.
But there is something that you wonder if this medical check is really making you realize that you are healthy as the result you got after few weeks pass?
I believe it’s only a small step to discover if you are really healthy or you have to keep your lifestyle going better than ever.
There are standard tests i.e. Blood Pressure, FBS, CBC, Urine Analysis, Chest X-Ray, Cholesterol, Triglyceride and etc by the package of each hospital you choose. This benefit mostly comes with the good contract you have with your company.
What about the people who have normal medical insurance? Do their plans cover the medical check up?
In Thailand, at present there are no medical plans which will cover “Medical Check Up” This information may be useful for someone who never had any medical insurance before and consider applying for one.

TRICK OR TREAT… PERSONAL ACCIDENT
Lately I just went to visit my bank after months to change my book bank. Spent time at the table of the bank staff for more than 15 minutes!
What took me so long to sit there? First she check my book bank and ask if I interest to apply for a credit card (which I already got 3) After she try to pursue me to apply in some of her products but I kept saying no. She offers me a PA package that she believes it something I should have for my life secure and etc.
I left the bank without paying much attention until I saw the advertisement on television. Debit card which could provide personal accident, anyone can apply and they will pay for each accident you have.
I start to wonder if those packages are really going to pay in case I have an accident. Let’s find out.
I look in the left let that staff gave to me and search in the internet about other bank. It seems that at present all the banks could provide the same type of thing. Debit card plus Personal Accident (PA.1)
When you talk about personal accident, for people who are not familiar with insurance, you may see no difference of them.
These are similar benefits that both plans could provide.
- Medical Expenses
- Murder & Assault
- Motorcycle Accident
- Hospitalization
- Public Accident Death
- Funeral Expense
Remarks: These benefits may or may not provide in the policy, due to the term and conditions of each insurance company.
The above are just a list of Personal Accident Benefits which normally provide in PA policy and it may be different in the cover amount and premium.
How do you know if the policy which you are looking for is worth to pay? Check below table for Loss of Life, Dismemberment, Loss of Sight or Permanent Disability. The percentage that they would pay the claim.
LOSS OF LIFE, DISMEMBERMENT, LOSS OF SIGHT OR PERMANENT DISABILITY |
|
PA.1 |
PA.2 |
|
|
The premium of these two plans maybe difference but if you concern in case some accident happen to you. If you have a better benefits at that time, it would make big difference for you and your love one.
Also for some of you who think you are not ready to continue paying for Life Insurance policy. You should consider having a Personal Accident for a good start.

INFLUENZA SEASON IS BACK IN TOWN!!!
WHO is coordinating the global response and monitoring the corresponding threat of an influenza pandemic.
What about here in Thailand? What kind of benefits I could have with my existing medical insurance policy?
Do you know that the Influenza vaccine is cover in your policy or not?
For you, who have the medical insurance in Thailand the answer is “NO”. Due to the exclusion for Vaccinations. But what if you get infected? Do you still have the coverage?
The answer is “YES” if it’s not pre-existing condition. You still be able to have the benefits in your policy for the treatment and etc ( By the plan benefits you have )
This is an information about Influenza A(H1N1) from Bureau of Emerging Infectious Diseases Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health
Influenza A(H1N1)
a novel influenza virus is contagious and transmitted person to person. Outbreaks in human first occurred in Mexico and the United States in March 2009. The disease then spreads to other countries in many parts of the world through international traveling.
Causative Agent
The disease is caused by a novel influenza A(H1N1) virus. From current evidence, the virus is a result of re-assortment between human, swine and avian influenza viruses never before been found in human.
Signs and Symptoms
Incubation period of influenza is 1-3 days, In a very rare case that incubation period approaches 7 days. After getting infected, a person will have fever greater than 37.5 Celsius. Symptoms of this new influenza A(H1N1) is quite similar to seasonal influenza starting with fever, headache, body aches, chills, fatigue, cough, sore throat, and in some cases, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Most patients have only mild symptoms and do not require any hospitalization.
A patient will gradually recover within 5 – 7 days. However some ill individuals might have severe complications such as pneumonia which can be observed through rapid and trouble breathing.
Treatment
Patients with severe illness should seek medical care at a nearby hospital immediately. Antiviral drug such as oseltamivir prescribed within 48 hours after onset on illness under care of a physician usually gives good treatment result. Patients with mild sickness i.e. low grade fever and appetite should seek care at a private clinic or consult a pharmacist for proper medicine and advice. Home care of a sick person are as follows : Take prescribed medicine for relief of symptoms such as paracetamol etc. Wipe the patients’ skin gently and intermittently using towel soaked with clean water to helprelief fever.
Drink plenty of clean water and fruit juice. Avoid drinking cold water. Eat soft nutritious food including eggs, vegetables and fruits. In case of low appetite, supplement vitamins will be helpful. As the disease is caused by a virus,
